Q:  Do I need a separate account to download eBooks & eAudiobooks?
A: No!  If you have a library card with Athens-Limestone Public Library, you can download eBooks & eAudiobooks from Camellia Net absolutely FREE. Just go to the Sign In page, and choose us as your library. You will then be prompted to enter your library card number (that long number under the barcode on the front of your library card) with no spaces, and your PIN (the last four digits of your home phone number unless you have changed it in your online Library account).

Q:  How many books am I allowed to check out?
A: You may check out a total of five (5) items.  These can be any combination of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and music.

Q: How long are these books checked out to me?
A: You may choose either a seven (7) day or fourteen (14) day checkout.  Items are automatically returned at the end of this time.

Q: I finished my eBook early, can I return it sooner than two weeks?
A: Yes. Just go into the program you used to download the eBook (Adobe Digital Editions, Kindle, etc.), choose the item, and select Return Item. For eAudiobooks, the latest version of Overdrive Media Console (v. 3.2.2.0) allows early return of eAudiobooks in the MP3 format. Just follow the directions in this tutorial to return your MP3. Please note, WMA titles are not eligible for early return.

Q: The item I wanted is not available. What do I do?
A: Just like a Library item, you can place a Hold!  Popular items may have a waiting list, but you can add your name to that list to be guaranteed a copy when it becomes available. Click on Place Hold, and follow the steps for downloading an eBook.  You will receive an email when the item becomes available.

Q: The item I placed on Hold just became available, but I have five items checked out. What do I do?
A: Unfortunately, this is the way Camellia Net works.  You are only allowed to check out five items at a time.  You can return one of your checked out items early in order to claim your Held item or you can place another Hold on the item, and check it out at a later date.

Q: What's my PIN again?
A: By default, your PIN is the last four digits of your home telephone number that you gave the Library. It is possible to change your PIN by signing in to your user account on the Athens-Limestone Public Library website.  Surf to www.alcpl.org and click on the My Account tab. Enter your Library card number (the long number under the barcode on the front of your Library Card) with no spaces, and your current PIN.  If you decide to change your PIN number, please write it down! The Library does not keep a record of PIN numbers.

Q: What is the Overdrive Media Console and is it safe to download?
A: The OverDrive Media Console is free software that allows you to download and enjoy audiobooks, music, and video on a computer, or eBooks and audiobooks on a mobile device. Navigate, play and bookmark titles, plus transfer to a compatible device in just a few clicks. It is safe to download.  For more information, visit the Overdrive Media Console Help page.

Q: The book I want to read isn't on Camellia Net. What do I do?
A: Patron requests for eBook or eAudiobooks are welcome for items not in the CamelliaNet catalog. Requests may be made by Library cardholders only. A hold will not be placed on eBooks or eAudiobooks.
How do I make a request through this program?
Provide the full title, author's name, and ISBN to the Research Desk staff using the request form. Requests for items not yet published or released will not be accepted more than 30 days prior to the publication or release date.
What cannot be requested through this program?
With a few exceptions (for example, required reading for high school), titles more than two years old will not be added to the collection. Out of print and special order items, and self-published titles cannot be ordered through the Customer Request Program. Interlibrary Loan may be an option for these items.
Titles from certain publishers are not available for purchase by libraries.
A library cannot pay Amazon or Barnes & Noble for an eBook and then lend it out to people.  We can buy a printed book from these companies and lend it out--but digital content is treated differently by the publishers and the companies who manage digital content licensing.  We want to offer you these eBooks, but the publishers won't let us.  As your library, we are committed to continuing advocacy for change in these policies.
The following publishers currently refuse to sell or license eBooks to libraries:
Macmillan Publishing
Simon & Schuster
Penguin Group
Brilliance Audio
Hachette Book Group
